COTTON.

Cotton is with us almost every day. This material, produced mainly in China and India, is made from the plant fiber that surrounds cotton seeds and is then transformed into yarn.

SURPRISINGLY, COTTON IS THE MOST PRODUCED NATURAL FIBER IN THE WORLD

Quality cotton is white, strong, has long fibers, and is very clean. We love this cotton at Maison Standards.
Why? Firstly, for its softness. It's a very comfortable material to wear, perfect for everyday wear.

It's easy to dye and transform: waterproofing, starching... cotton says yes to everything. And it's easy to maintain, which is good for you.

Finally, cotton is kind to your skin: hypoallergenic and breathable, it allows the skin to breathe.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR COTTON?

The easiest way is to follow the instructions on the labels.

To maintain the quality of your cottons for a long time, we recommend machine washing at 40° for t-shirts and at 30° for other items. Cotton can withstand 60°, but this is a program to be reserved for difficult stains as it could relax the fabric fibers.

When it comes to drying, we recommend limiting the use of the tumble dryer and opting for traditional air drying.

DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ORGANIC COTTON?

Organic cotton is grown using methods that leave a smaller environmental footprint for the planet. It meets the following criteria in its production:

No use of toxins
No use of persistent pesticides (POPs)
No use of chemical fertilizers
No use of GMO seeds

Used in the textile industry, organic cotton remains marginal because it leads to higher production prices.

Did you say GOTS?

GOTS stands for “Global Organic Textile Standard,” a certification that guarantees cotton produced using rigorous methods.

2 MAIN CRITERIA:

Cotton contains at least 70% organic fibers.

Chemicals such as dyes and additives used on cotton must meet specific environmental and toxicological criteria.

Manufacturers of this type of material are still rare, but for Maison Standards, it's the future. We're working to increasingly include this type of material in our collections.

Maison Standards models with GOTS certification can be recognized by this symbol:
